Sharing the Gospel
Matthew 28:18-20
Introduction:
1.
Story of Mike and
Krista
2. Story of Laura (Taylor)
3. Story of Susan (Collins)
4.
Review of two points:
·
People matter to God
·
God matters to us
1.
Being
lost in sin is a real problem, not an imagined one.
2. John 8:24
3. 2 Thess. 1:7-9
4.
1 Pet. 4:17,18 For it is time for judgment
to begin with the household of God; and if it begins with us first, what will
be the outcome for those who do not obey the gospel of God? And if it is with
difficulty that the righteous is saved, what will become of the godless man and
the sinner?
1.
People
need Christ as an example:
a.
of
sinless behavior
b.
of
kindness and love
c.
of
a forgiving spirit
d.
of
honesty and courage
2.
People
need Christ as:
a.
their
comforter (Mt. 11:28-30)
b.
their
Savior (John 1:29)
c.
their
Shepherd (1 Pet. 2:24,25)
d.
their
Lord (Acts 3:22,23)
3.
People
often have a hole in their hearts (empty lives) and do not know how much they
need the Lord to fill them up.
How potent are you?
·
Does
anyone know you are a Christian?
·
Does
your life proclaim that the Lord matters to you?
·
Does
anyone want the Christian life you have?
·
Do
you have a light people need?
What You Can Do:
Be like Andrew (John 1:41,42)
He found first his own brother Simon, and said to him, "We have found the Messiah" (which translated means Christ). He brought him to Jesus. (41,42)
Be like Cornelius to family and friends (Acts 10:24)
Now Cornelius was waiting
for them, and had called together his relatives and close friends. (24) And as
he talked with him, he entered, and found many people assembled. (27)
We Need
1. Faith to pray (Talk to God about the people you want to
find Him.
a.
“Talk
to God about people, then talk to those people about God.”
b. Pray fervently. James 5:16
The effective prayer of a righteous man can accomplish much.
2.
Diligence
to look for interested souls
3.
Courage
to ask for a Bible study
4.
Knowledge
to teach the gospel
5.
Wisdom
to persuade

Conclusion:
Isn’t it time we began reaching out to our neighbors in a
serious way?
When you make an invitation, make it as if heaven and hell depended on
it, because it does.
When you make an invitation, make it as if God Himself were begging and
pleading through you, because He is.
When you make an invitation, make it as if nothing else matters,
because one day nothing else will matter.
